How is the climate system changing? How has climate change already altered the landscape in California and elsewhere (e.g., wildfires and risks to farmworkers, changing ecosystems such as the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, drought conditions, changes within industries of central importance to California such as oil and gas, renewable fuels, agriculture, and goods movement, etc.)?

Given that climate change has arrived in California, how must UCI research, teaching, and outreach change? What institutional structures should be created to enhance existing centers of excellence? How should the classroom, modes of instruction, and experiential learning adapt? What new roles could, or should, the university play in response to the climate crisis?
