PROGRAMMING INFORMATION
For Applicants
Applicants are expected to submit either an NSF-style project summary or 250-word abstract describing their project.
Applicants should be planning to submit a CAREER proposal for the annual NSF deadline in the year that they apply. We welcome applications from CAREER-eligible faculty resubmitting a CAREER proposal or submitting for the first time. UCI started running the NSF CAREER Institute at UCI in 2023 and plans to run it annually.
For Mentors
Faculty mentors provide peer feedback on draft project descriptions and keep PIs on track. Mentors will lead small group activities consisting of up to seven NSF CAREER grant applicants. Each faculty mentor will receive $2,000 in discretionary research funds to facilitate approximately 6-8 meetings with your group between January and June.
Applications from faculty mentors should include an NSF biosketch and statement expressing interest to serve as a mentor that explains past proposal writing experience of grants submitted to NSF and other sponsors.
